Come on down!

Phew, a full tummy, Hubby and I just waddled in the door. Tonight we met our son at Strouds in Kansas City, a restaurant famous since 1933 for their pan fried chicken and featured on Man VS Food. Some wonderful comfort food dished up here and folks were lined up out the door. And I thought before I put my feet up and collapse on the sofa I need to finish my blog post! Hubby drew a winning name from all 3 of you who entered LOL!

Come on down Kristin and claim your prize! Kathy and Sharon, your comments were also so sweet, Cleo said we need to send you a little something as well. We have an Annie February block with red and pink fabric strips to frame it in for you. So ladies please email your addresses and I will get these off to you! And thank you all for your comments, it was so nice to hear from you :)

This week I made a little more progress and added white sashings which I think shows off these prints nicely. I am now mulling over what to do for borders. I have some thoughts rolling around... what do you think?

It's sofa time now, Cleo needs a little cuddling, we're going to watch a movie, enjoy the weekend!

A little giveaway

I had a very productive week in my sewing room. Hubby was away for a few days and I was able to devote my full attention to sewing. Not that I don't get a lot done when he's home, he just likes a home cooked meal every night LOL! I don't know about you, but when I'm zipping along sewing it's hard to make myself stop, put on an apron and cook a feast. Noooooo, I ordered pizza one night and ate it for two! Day 3 I drove through Burger King on my way home from the post office, what a multi tasker I am! First of all I finished my quilt (not shown) for Market and sent it off to fabulous Brenda for some of her quilting love. It features the gray & pink fabric I showed you in my last post, all I can say is it's purrrfectly cute!
Then I pulled out my little Annie blocks who have been shoved off to the side for a long time, they were screaming to be finished cause they're so darn cute. Well, I had set them aside because I decided I wanted my block sashings to be a little wider. So I had to do some unsewing (don't you just hate that!) before I could re sew. Much happier with this change. This week I'll add the sashings and borders. Now don't even ask me why there is a golf ball in the picture LOL! See, thats what Hubby does during the winter, practice putting indoors, we have a regular little miniature golf course going on here. Either that or Cleo was batting it around.

I have lots of 2-inch wide fabric strips left from framing my blocks. My Annies are trimmed to
5-1/2" x 6-1/2" and these strips will work for this size block. I felt someone might love these scraps for their Annies, most are reproduction prints and a few vintage. There should be enough to frame all 12 blocks. I also added the January Annie Pattern to start you out.

Cleo will draw a name next Saturday, the 28th! So please leave a comment if these interest you, and hit my follow button if you have not already (it can be lonely talking to yourself over here)!
Until next time!

Be My Valentine!

It was love at 1st sight when this soft dolly caught my eye on Pinterest. You know I love kitties and I just had to explore further which led to a purchase and she came home to Momma yesterday :) This cute kitty, named "Candi" is the creation of soft sculpture artist Valerie Weberpal of Harvest Moon Designs. She just makes me grin from ear to ear. Love how she is dressed in re purposed textiles: a soft fuzzy sweater edged in vintage ribbon, layered heart applique surrounded by beads, and that mouth!!!

And now it's time to get busy in the kitchen here, have to make Hash Brown Casserole to take to couples Bunco tonight. Yes, we let the hubbies play twice a year and it is a lot of fun and good food! The only problem I see is the Broncos play the Patriots tonight and you know those men are going to be too nervous to roll dice with their eyes glued to the big screen!
Tomorrow will be a sewing and talk to my sister in NY day :) Hope your weekend is the best!

Getting Organized

New Years resolutions... I did not really make any, did you? I have however decided to attempt better organization in my home starting with my sewing room. And that is why I have been missing since Christmas LOL! This picture shows one small section of my cutting table. Piles of fabric and doodads cover every nook and cranny of my space. When my son was home over Christmas he was ironing a shirt in my "studio" where the ironing board is set up naturally. He came downstairs and looked at me weird.. and said... boy Mom, you sure have a lot of "cloth" up there! I believe he was nicely saying you are out of control LOL! I guess I was just hoping HGTV was going to come and surprise me with a room makeover. However they have not and I decided to bite the bullet and get after it. My biggest problem seems to be the closet is full and and my fabric drawers as well, I just don't know where to put it all. I have allotted myself 1 hour a day to sift through it all, 1 pile to keep, 1 to donate.

The rest of my day I am sewing, full steam ahead. International Quilt Market will be here in Kansas City this spring. I am hopping up and down excited and since I will have a booth that means I have lots of design work to do. These are the yummy colors I am working with now. I was really attracted to this fabric line by Michael Miller. Wish I could show you more but everything will be under wraps until May.

Pretty wool felt colors arrived just in time for spring stitching.

Late evenings I like to settle down with a good book. Hubby bought me a Nook for Christmas, a complete surprise. To tell you the truth I had not embraced the fact of reading digitally and I just love it. As an avid reader I enjoy being able to purchase and download my books in seconds, mwahaha, little does he know what a monster he has created!

And that is where I am headed off to now, my cozy chair, a few treats and my Nook!
